After weeks of lowering the track record at Rideau Carleton Raceway, Lit De Rose ascended to the top class at Woodbine Mohawk Park and sprouted to a 1:50.1 victory in the $32,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred on Friday (Sept. 11).

Stonebridge Soul swept to the lead from post 8 while Lit De Rose settled into second moving to a :26.3 opening quarter. Race-favourite Tall Drink Hanover soon angled off the pegs from fourth, prompting driver Louis Roy to circle Lit De Rose to the front before yielding the lead to Tall Drink Hanover before a :55.1 half.

Tall Drink Hanover took the field around the final turn with Lit De Rose in tow moving to three-quarters in 1:23.1. Roy pulled Lit De Rose from the pocket into the stretch and rolled to the lead as So Much More gave pursuit to the outside with Treacherous Reign angling off the pylons to challenge down the center of the track. A length split the three to the finish, where Lit De Rose held off So Much More by a neck in 1:50.1 with Treacherous Reign third.

A five-year-old mare by Leader Bayama, Lit De Rose won her fifth race from nine starts this season and her 17th from 47 overall, earning $180,387. Maxime Velaye trains the $8.80 winner for owner-breeder Guy Corbeil.
