Grabbing command early, Distinctiv Rusty led every step of the $2,000 featured pace at Truro Raceway on Friday (Sept. 11) to post a 1:56.3 win at odds of 9-2.

Driver Todd Trites sent the nine-year-old Rambaran stallion to the top from post 3 and held an uncontested lead through fractions of :28.2 and :58.1. Odds-on favourite Johnnywalkerdelux mounted a challenge to Distinctiv Rusty moving to the half, tipping first over and drawing up towards the pacesetter passing three-quarters in 1:27.1. Through the far turn Johnnywalkerdelux remained at the Distinctiv Rusty’s side, however the George Rennison trainee maintained a length advantage in progress to victory. Jazzmo, off a pocket trip, took third.

Owned by Andrea Rennison and Ryder Matthews Rennison, Distinctiv Rusty won his fifth race from 15 starts this season and his 39th from 201 overall, earning $85,400. He paid $11.40 to win.
