One of Canadian television's most popular personalities, Rick Mercer was a hands-on participant in his recent visit to Fredericton Raceway.
Mercer was at the New Brunswick Provincial Exhibition and Fredericton Raceway on Monday, Sept. 1 taping content for his upcoming season of The Rick Mercer Report on CBC. Not only did Mercer interview some of the local participants and fans, he also sat behind grey pacer Grimsby and was listed and announced as the owner of the horse in the program.
Mercer made a great connection with the crowd enjoying the Labour Day card of harness racing at Fredericton.
"People are generally happy to see me coming," Mercer told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner. "If they see me here with a TV crew, they know I'm not here to make fun of them or to make anyone look awkward. If I go anywhere, I'm there to celebrate it."
