Preferred Winner Helps Palone To Five

Overcoming post nine, Chilitodayhotamale rocketed to the lead, yielded to the pocket and brushed through the Lightning Lane to capture Wednesday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Chilitodayhotamale looped Trotslikethewind from the gate, forcing her rival to work hard for the lead. That was the edge the four-year-old daughter of Muscles Yankee-Miss Molly Tamale needed, as she out-kicked Trotslikethewind to down her by two lengths in 1:54.4 for Dave Palone. Jesses Messenger closed well for show.

Ron Burke trains Chilitodayhotamale, who soared over $300,000 in career earnings, for Michael Andrew. Palone drove five winners — including four for Burke — on the 15-race card.
