Another ‘Aces’ Win For ‘Mimi’

One of the featured events on Running Aces’ Sunday night (Sept. 9) program was an $8,500 Minnesota-sired three-year-old filly trot.

Seven sophomores lined up for the final prep race before the track’s upcoming Night of Champions, which will take place on Saturday, September 15.

Rock On Ruby (driven by Lemoyne Svendsen) was fastest off the gate and grabbed early command from her outside Post 7. Mimi Marguerite (James Yoder) quickly got rolling from Post 5 to challenge for the lead, and the duo battled for the front past the :29.2 quarter.

Mimi Marguerite cleared to the front at the three-eighth-mile juncture and trotted comfortably from there. She went on to post a half in :58.2 and three-quarters in 1:28.1 as Rock On Ruby stalked in the pocket.

As the duo turned for home, Rock On Ruby came after the leader, but Mimi Marguerite remained strong and held sway to the wire for her second consecutive win, as she stopped the timer in 1:58.4 for a new lifetime mark.

Rock On Ruby finished three quarters of one length back in second. Longshot The Sweetest Thing (Dean Magee) posted a good effort for third.

Mimi Marguerite ($2.60) is owned by Jeanne Marquis and Jesse De Long and trained by Justin Anfinson.

Live racing at Running Aces will continue on Tuesday (Sept. 11) with first post at 6:00 p.m. (CDT). There will be several carryovers featured during the Tuesday card. The 50 cent Early Pick-4 carryover is $1,634.86; the 50-cent Early Pick-3 carryover is $1,131.87; the 20-cent Jackpot Pick-5 carryover is $39,285.25, and the 50 cent Hi-5 carryover is $1,703.07.
