Still savouring the overflow turnout of 6,000 for its inaugural day of racing at Hippodrome 3R on Sunday, the Quebec Jockey Club has announced significant increases in purses for its stakes finals for Quebec-bred trotters and pacers in 2013 and beyond.

The stakes finals for two-year-olds and three-year-olds will go for $50,000 next year, with $25,000 finals for older horses.

And the finals for two-year-olds will reach $150,000 in 2016, for foals born from next year’s breedings.

The three-year-old finals will be $150,000 in 2017, and the finals for older horses go to $100,000 in 2018.

There will also be premiums available for breeders and owners of Quebec-breds, QJC Chairman Tony Infilise said.
