Beach Glass returned to the track for the third week in a row on Friday (Sept. 1) at Woodbine Mohawk Park and dominated in his fastest qualifier of the season.
Paul MacDonell was back in the bike for Brent MacGrath as the pair pulled no punches in leaving from the rail in the field of five. Beach Glass had a seven-length lead by the quarter in :27.3 and opened up by 14 on the field by the half in :55. Running off the screen, Beach Glass made the difference between him and his opponents 20 lengths at the 1:22 three-quarters before continuing on to win by 22 lengths in 1:49.2.
A career earner of $1,187,416, Beach Glass has only missed the board one time in his 18 career starts. Owned by Schooner II Stable, the four-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere - Im With Her boasts a record of 12-4-0 and was a 2022 O'Brien Award finalist.
MacGrath told Trot Insider that Beach Glass is pointed for the 2023 Jim Ewart Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Scioto Downs.
