Aimo Hanover Tops Pre-Jug Sale

The 60th annual Pre-Jug Mixed Sale held Aug. 29 and 30 in Delaware, Ohio, featured black type yearlings along with several hundred racehorses and some excellent broodmares. Bidding was fast and serious in each division.

The racehorses were led by the sale topping Open pacer Aimo Hanover p,4,1:50 ($161,836) at $60,000. Consigned by Burke Racing Stable LLC, the son of Artiscape was purchased by Dave Clinard of Illinois to race at Hoosier Park.

Next in line were two promising young horses from Canada that brought $35,000 each. Conditioned trotter Kadabrasnewrecruit 3,1:56.2 ($106,782) from the Robert McIntosh consignment was purchased by Rene Allard, and Burke Racing Stable LLC got the nod on Janettes Image p,3,1:54.3, a Rockin Image winner in three of four lifetime starts, consigned by Wisconsin Standardbreds.

Best To Hurst p,3,1:52 ($87,470), fresh off a second place finish in the Kentucky Sires Stakes championship, was picked up for $26,000 by Walter Whelan of Ontario from Tammy Carter’s consignment.

Rugged nine-year-old warhorse Dalhousie Dave p,3,1:49.4 ($630,507) was purchased by Howard Taylor of Pennsylvania for$25,000 along with the beautiful gray Somebeachsomewhere mare Gadsden Hanover p,1:52.4f ($156,726) for $21,000.

The Walnut Hall Ltd. broodmares in the Winterwood Farm consignment generated a lot of interest led by Arabella Hall, a half-sister to the richest trotting gelding ever, Arch Madness. In foal to Muscle Mass, the daughter of Donato Hanover was purchased by Atlee Shetler, agent, for $45,000.

Also from that consignment was the dam of Arch Madness, Armbro Archer, that was purchased by Michael Goldberg of Massachusetts for $20,000 and a daughter of the great Amour Angus, Absinthe Hall, that went to Stephen Sexton for 20,000.

Another exciting broodmare was Circle Of Love with an A Rocknroll Dance filly by her side and back in foal to Well Said. Consigned by Wisconsin Standardbreds, this attractive breeding package was purchased by Nancy MacNevin of Ontario for $30,000.

In the yearling category, the first Ohio eligible crop of Manofmanymissions was led by Mission On My Mind at $22,000. Consigned by Trotting Traditions, the daughter of Lindy On My Mind was purchased by Stephen Sexton of Ohio.

The initial Pet Rock yearlings made their debut and were led by the filly Petrify at $18,000. Consigned by Ruddick Stables, the beautiful daughter of Best Of Ball p,4,1:52.2f was purchased by John and Mary Van Horn of Ohio.

Smell That Rock, out of the Dragon Again mare Dragon So p,1:51, was purchased from Winterwood Farm by Jim Arledge Jr. for $16,000.
