A new off-track wagering location has been proposed to be introduced to St. Thomas, Ont., officials have confirmed.
As a piece by the St. Thomas Times-Journal explains, the St. Thomas location of Jackpot City Gaming Entertainment is hoping to be simulcasting horse races before the end of 2016.
Jackpot City St. Thomas’ general manager, Tony Di Maria, told the Times that the plans are just in the “infant stage,” but that Jackpot City is just trying to expand its offerings.
Di Maria also went on to say that the Woodbine Entertainment Group approached Jackpot City about the idea. “We thought it might be a good fit,” he said.
The article goes on to state that the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has approved the idea, and that the parties are now awaiting approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
