Diggin A Trench Prevails In Futurity

Diggin A Trench recovered from an interference break at the third quarter mark and went on to win the $16,720 Futurity Stakes for three-year-old pacers, sponsored by the Manitoba Standardbred Sires & Breeders Association, on Saturday at Killarney.

Driven by Michel Rey, Diggin A Trench was victorious in 2:04.1 after taking the lead in the stretch and drawing off by five lengths over Als Friday Player and filly Throw Me Roses. The homebred Armbro Trench colt, who is now three-for-four in his debut season, is owned by trainer Richard and Janet Rey of St. Claude, Manitoba.

Senga Waterford was a wire-to-wire winner in the $1,600 Preferred Pace, scoring his first win of the season in 2:02.1 with trainer/driver Tyler Grundy in the sulky for owner Jayne Kornelsen of Steinbach, Manitoba.
