After turning in a monster performance in her OSS Gold Series elimination one week earlier, Bee A Magician returned to Mohawk Racetrack on Monday evening and did another number on nine of Ontario’s finest, freshman trotting fillies in the $130,000 OSS Gold Series final.
The daughter of Kadabra-Beehive, who went from last-to-first en route to posting a 1:57 triumph in last week’s assignment, swept off cover yet again to win Thursday’s rich tilt in 1:56.4
Bee A Magician was seventh and parked while racing 18 lengths away from a charged-up Cardio Pump, who blazed her way by the quarter in a :27-second clip. She steamrolled out to a big lead at the mid-way point in :56.4 before leading by a mere half-length margin at the three-quarter marker in 1:27.4. Wind Stroll was first-over, Legzy was second up and Zeron was patiently sitting third over with an itchy trigger finger.
He tipped Bee A Magician off cover in the lane, and she steamrolled home in :28.1 to win by five lengths while racing wrapped up as she crossed the line in 1:56.4. Legzy came on to get the runner-up award, while Choir Robe – Bee A Magician’s stablemate – finished third.
Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman trains the four-time winner for partners Mel Hartman, Herb Liverman and David McDuffee. The $90,000 purchase from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale has now banked $157,500.
