Willies Place toted a two-race winning streak into Monday’s $9,500 Preferred Pace at Grand River Raceway, and despite a first-over journey the Shawn Robinson pupil managed to keep his winning streak alive

.

With Billy Davis, Jr. at the controls, Willies Place got away third while Cigar Hall ripped through an opening panel of :26.3. He was still on top at the half in :55.3, but he did so while feeling first-over pressure from Willies Place. They continued their battle to the three-quarter marker in 1:24 before Willies Place found another gear and drew clear to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Cigar Hall in 1:53.4. Ill Call U Back came on late to grab third prize in the eight-horse tilt.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, Willies Place is now 3-for-12 this season for owner Domenic Chiaravalle of Hamilton, ON. The six-time winner is just shy of $95,000 in lifetime earnings.
