The finalists are now set for the second annual Gamester-Pinkney Cup final after Brady Sweet and Countercurrency captured their leg on Tuesday (Aug. 8) evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The Gamester leg of the competition had divisions at Red Shores Charlottetown and Red Shores Summerside with Countercurrency circling the field in their Tuesday contest in line to Brady Sweet. The time of the mile was 2:00.4 for the Tyra Perry-owned pacing mare as she defeated Think Again (Patrick Shepherd) and Dorabella (Kyle Desroche).

The victory put Sweet over the top in the point standings as he was presented the Byron Gamester Memorial trophy from the Gamester family as well as a certificate for a new driving suit courtesy of a partnership between Wendy MacRae and Atlanticharnessracing.ca. Joining Sweet in the Sept. 3 Gamester-Pinkney Cup final at the Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia will be Shepherd, Jaycob Sweet and Brett Clow from Team Gamester.

The Pinkney leg of the competition concluded Sunday in Truro with Kyle Mason garnering top prize along with the Phil Pinkney Memorial Award and a new driving helmet courtesy of Grattan Helmets and the Ben Hollingsworth Stable of Ontario. Also making the final from Team Pinkney were Zach Mullins, Luke Armstrong and Monica Sutherland.

In other Tuesday evening racing action at Red Shores Summerside, Melody Maker (pictured above) made it seven straight victories as he captured the $3,600 Preferred 2 Pace in 1:55.3 for driver Dale Spence and owner-trainer Greg MacInnis of Tyne Valley, P.E.I.
