Sudbury Downs’ Saturday night program got off to a shaky start as an accident occurred in the first race

.

Racing second over in fourth position, Lady Sylberun fell to the track at the top of the stretch unseating driver Justin Turcotte when Vawns Chip (David Dowling) made a break in front of her.

“I was going around the last turn and the guy in front of me [Vawns Chip and driver David Dowling] made a break,” Turcotte told Trot Insider. “Someone [Canaco Pop and driver Wayne MacLean] went three-wide around me and caught my wheel and spun me around.

"My mare fell when that happened, and I whacked my head pretty good on the track,” he added. “I was a little foggy for a few minutes but I was alright. It just took me a few minutes to come around. Luckily there were no broken bones, just broken wheels.”

Turcotte told Trot Insider that his mare had a couple of scrapes on her but walked out of it alright.

“I’m sure we’ll both be stiff tomorrow,” he said.
