The lone three-year-old in a field of six, Safe From Terror cast a vote for youth when she rolled to an easy victory in Wednesday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.
Fresh off a win in a Pennsylvania Sires Stakes leg, Safe From Terror figured to have her work cut out for her against a group of accomplished, experienced mares. But the daughter of Western Terror-In A Safe Place quarter-poled to the lead for Dave Palone and never let her elders get close, scoring in 1:51.3. Early leader Do Me Honor was second, two lengths back, with Certified Ideal third.
Ron Burke trains Safe From Terror, who now boasts $197,344 in career earnings, for Our Horse Cents Stables, Stable 45 and J&T Silva Stables.
Palone piloted four winners and Tony Hall three on the 14-race card. Over the past three programs at The Meadows, Palone has collected 21 victories in 32 starts for a winning percentage of 65.6.
