Cambest Kisser was able to hold off The Big Bite in Thursday night’s feature in a sparkling 1:56.1 at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Trainer Jason Hughes, who recorded a driving triple on the program, engineered the winning trip for Cambest Kisser. He sent the gelding to the front and hustled him through fractions of :27.3, :56.2 and 1:26.2 before using a :29.4 kicker to win by three-quarters of a length over The Big Bite in 1:56.1. Blue Chip Sunshine was third.

Donald Mac Rae and Steven Mac Rae of Vernon Bridge, PE share ownership on the eight-year-old son of Cambest-Passionate Kisses.

Driver Walter Cheverie and trainer Joe Smallwood teamed up to win both trotting events on the card.

JK Blaze captured the three-year-old division while stablemate J K Queen, co-owned by Smallwood and Norman Clarey, went gate-to-wire for a 2:02 score.

Racing returns Saturday with a first race post time set for 6 p.m. Red Shores Summerside will their final card before Old Home Week Sunday at 1 p.m.
