Newly minted Atlantic record holder Lady Cafe Au Lait will attempt to extend her winning streak to 11 straight victories on Thursday, Aug. 6 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 16-dash presentation starting at 6 p.m. (ADT), with Lady Cafe Au Lait headlining the $9,000 Aged Pacing Mares Series division in the race 16 finale.
Lady Cafe Au Lait will leave from post four with Marc Campbell driving for trainer Earl Watts. The four-year-old daughter of Big Jim was a dazzling winner in 1:52.1 in her latest appearance setting a new pacing mares track record at Red Shores Summerside while eclipsing the overall Atlantic Canadian record for aged pacing mares, formerly held by Pasta Momma in 1:52.2.
The 5-2 morning line favourite has won 10 consecutive races and will attempt to add another victory on Thursday for owners, Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I. and Matt and David Burke of Stratford, P.E.I.
Windemere Saddy is the 3-1 second choice from post three with Ken Murphy driving for trainer Saul Lanigan while Vibrance leaves from the rail with Jason Hughes driving for trainer Ashley Gamester.
The other $9,000 Aged Pacing Mares Series division lines up in race 12 with Trumps Girl favoured from the rail. Marc Campbell drives the David O’Brien trainee for owner Tommy Collings of Mount Stewart, P.E.I. Other top contenders include Badgirl Brigette, who has post seven with Hughes aboard for trainer Bill Lanigan, and Rosetown Mary, who will leave from post three for trainer/driver Corey MacPherson.
The $8,000 Island Oceans Trot Series leg takes to the track in race nine with Fight Song installed as the 5-2 morning line favourite from post two. Hughes will drive the Ashley Gamester trainee for owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. Buckhead Ridge has post three with Marc Campbell driving for trainer Landon Campbell while West River Jet will leave from the rail with Clare MacDonald driving for trainer Kenny Arsenault. Flemsteen has post four with David Dowling in the bike for trainer Jennifer Doyle and Oceanview Nikki completes the compact field with trainer/driver Mike McGuigan.
The P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series, presented by Red Shores, has a pair of Grassroots divisions for $6,000 purses in races 10 and 14. Freaky Fanny is the 5-2 favourite in race 10 from post two for trainer/driver Darren Crowe. Steady Heart is the 3-1 second choice from post six with Marc Campbell driving for trainer Bo Ford while Promise Me Later has post three for driver Paul Langille and trainer Luke Burke.
Sensational Gal gets top billing in the other P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduates Series division in race 14 from post two with Barrieau driving for trainer Nicholas Oakes. Saulsbrook Pika is the second choice from post four with MacPherson driving for trainer Ron Matheson while Woodmere Kennedie has post three with Marc Campbell in the seat for trainer Landon Campbell.
