Using a similar first-over strategy as he did in victory last week, Iwontdothatagain ($4.70) repeated in the Open ranks at Century Downs on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 5), taking the $9,000 featured pacing event in 1:53.1.

Trainer-driver Kelly Hoerdt angled the seven-year-old Stonebridge Regal gelding out from third to attack Cool Cowboy (Jim Marino), who controlled early splits of :28.4 and :57.2. As the two linked up on the backstretch, the pace quickened through a :28 third sectional while Sabine Pass (Paul Davies) enjoyed a cosy pocket ride. Off the home turn, Cool Cowboy still maintained a narrow advantage, but was duelled down late by Iwontdothatagain, who used a :27.4 final quarter to prevail by half a length. Sabine Pass narrowly protected third from the late-rallying Appellate (Brandon Campbell).

Hoerdt co-owns 28-time winner Iwontdothatagain with Ed Keryliuk. It was the third Open win for Iwontdothatagain in his last four starts, and his fifth of 2018.
