Getting away towards the middle of the pack, Sintra sat off a swift pace set by Nirvana Seelster before finding room and sprinting past all rivals to win the $34,000 Preferred Pace at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday, August 5 in 1:48.4 over Nirvana Seelster and Ellis Park.
Owned by Brad Gray, Michael Guerriero, and Menary Racing Inc., trained by David Menary, and driven by Jody Jamieson, Sintra, a four-year-old gelding by Mach Three from the Rocknroll Hanover mare Dancin Barefoot, won his 15th race in 29 tries and his seventh in 10 starts this season. He paid $4.50 to win.
Fool Me Once, who finished fifth, was honoured for surpassing $1-million in earnings. The seven-year-old horse by Art Major from the Jennas Beach Boy mare Fool That I Am competes for owner Brad Grant and is conditioned by Richard Moreau.
