Magic Dealer delivered a special win for some local connections in the 2024 Dream Of Glory Trot at Hanover Raceway on Saturday, Aug. 3.

Driver Samuel Fillion pointed second choice Magic Dealer to the top from post two in the $50,000 final, allowing Birthday Money (Todd Ratchford) to land there first and then removing to front the field through a :29 opening panel. Mass Cara (Brett MacDonald) applied first-over pressure on the leader through middle fractions of 1:00.3 and 1:30, but couldn't clear that rival as Fillion kept Magic Dealer interested on top.

Turning for home, Mass Cara gapped slightly and allowed Birthday Money some room to take a late run at Magic Dealer but that bid fell short as Magic Dealer hit the wire a half-length the best in a time of 2:00. Mass Cara held third.

A homebred owned by Oaklea Farm of Simcoe, Ont., Magic Dealer (Wheeling N Dealin - Oaklea Wand) is trained by Paul Walker, who along with Fillion notched a first win in Hanover's signature event. The 2-1 second choice paid $6 to win, picking up his fourth tally of the year while lifting his earnings to $55,825.

McWicked Move ($11.70) made her move in the $15,000 Doc Morley Invitational around the first turn, driving on from post seven for driver Travis Henry and then clearing to the top before the opening quarter. That move was the winning move, as the three-year-old McWicked - Call Your Mama filly was never fronted after that, punching out panels of :29.3, 1:01.2 and 1:31 before motoring home in :29.4 for the 2:00.4 score. Come See Come Saw (Tyler Moore) was two lengths back in second with Lola Montez (Fillion) in for the show spot.

Brent Dunbar trains McWicked Move, now a three-time winner, for Dorothy Dunbar of Palmerston, Ont.

Harpers Hat Trick ($2.70) delivered for his connections and supporters in the $6,000 Preferred 3 Pace, winning in 1:56.2 for driver Trevor Henry and owner-trainer Kristopher Haskell of Clinton, Ont. The six-year-old son of Sportswriter - Mightymachthree picked up his 24th career victory and bumped his lifetime earnings to $157,890.
