Dead Heat In Summerside Feature

A mad dash to the wire found two pacers hitting the finish in unison in the featured event at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway on Sunday afternoon (August 4).

Nogreatmischief and Czar Seelster hit the line in a dead heat for win in 1:57 in the $2,800 Preferred 2 Pace.

Adkins Hanover (who was driven by Ambyr Campbell) cut the fractions in :28.4, :58.1 and 1:27.3 but gave way in the stretch, as Czar Seelster came first over and Nogreatmischief fired through passing lane.

Walter Cheverie trains and drives Nogreatmischief and is also the co-owner along with Brian Thompson of Charlottetown. Mike McGuigan supplied the steer behind Czar Seelster for trainer Todd Weatherbee and owner Tammy Johnston of Stratford.

Third place went to Mantario (Alex Sobey).

Red Magician rode the pocket to victory in the $2,400 back-up pace. Adam Merner was at the lines for trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Dale and Ronnie Rennie of Elmsdale. The nine-year-old stopped the clock in 1:55.2 over pacesetter Dangle Ona Dime (Corey MacPherson) and third place Varadero Hanover (Ken Murphy).
