Wrangler Magic ($3.50) earned her third consecutive victory in the $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace, scoring in front-end fashion on Friday night (August 4) at Mohawk Racetrack.
Sent postward as the 3-5 favourite, Wrangler Magic and driver Louis-Philippe Roy left from the outside post six and worked to clear insider Exhilarated (Jonathan Drury) while Request For Parole (Travis Cullen) took back to third through a :27 opening quarter.
Wrangler Magic went unchallenged through a :55.2 half then Request For Parole moved out from third approaching three-quarters in 1:23.1.
However, Wrangler Magic remained cleared of that rival through the stretch and won by one length in 1:51.1. Request For Parole settled for second while Sandbetweenurtoes (Doug McNair) and Forever Liza (James MacDonld) rallied from the backfield finishing four-across the track.
Wrangler Magic, who was the Roses Are Red Stakes runner-up prior to her current win streak, notched her sixth victory on the season from 18 starts and pushed her annual income to $217,175. Lifetime, she boasts 16 career wins and more than $1 million in purse earnings.
