Fresh off taking a new lifetime mark in his last start, Shock The Rock converted of a perfect second over trip to take the Saturday night feature at Red Shores' Charlottetown in 1:56.3 for driver Corey MacPherson.
Eagle Jolt blasted off the gate from the rail in the $2,400 Preferred Pace before relinquishing Touch Of Lightning to the lead in :27.4. After clearing at the quarter, he laid down fractions of :57.3 and 1:27.3 before Shock The Rock flipped three-wide around the final strides to nail Eagle Jolt up the passing lane. Tempo Seelster was third.
The win gave the duo of trainer Blair MacLeod and MacPherson two wins on the card. The were also victorious earlier with Gramercy Hanover. MacPherson picked up a triple winning with Pacific Oak. Bethany MacLeod owns Shock The Rock.
It was a night of multiple victories. Jason 'The Blue Knight' Hughes also had a hat trick on the card, including a training double from his own stable. He started things off winning with Camco Tom Tom for trainer Tom Weatherbie. He followed that up with victories aboard Tobins Lady and Silverhill Blaze from his own stable.
Veteran driver Walter Cheverie continues to stay hot, picking up a driving double on the card. He picked up a shocking victory in the evening's trot class, winning with J K Queen in 2:02.3 for owners Norman Clarey and Joe Smallwood. The seven-year-old daughter of Nikes Image returned $86.60 to his backers. Cheverie then closed out the card with a wire-to-wire victory aboard Leading Camdidate.
Six hours after picking up a victory in The Maritimer in Saint John, the connections of owner Reg MacPherson, trainer Kevin MacLean and driver Marc Campbell teamed up to score the fastest mile of the night, winning with Forever Paradise in 1:55.1.
