Poof Shes Gone survived a brief power outage and a grueling, parked-out trip to capture Monday’s $130,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Final for two-year-old filly trotters at

Mohawk Racetrack.

Regular driver David Miller guided the daughter of Kadabra-Travelin Superlite from post six and had her sitting near the back of the field in the early stages, but elected to keep her to the outside through the :28.1 first fraction.

Poof Shes Gone stayed parked and followed cover until the top of the stretch where she tipped three-wide and trotted away to an easy 1:56.2 victory. Angostura overcame a post-10 start to finish second with Emmylou Who rallying late to pick up the show spot.

The race was delayed approximately 20 minutes due to a widespread power outage that hit the Milton area just prior to post time.

Despite the adversity, Poof Shes Gone was all business in capturing her fourth straight win for trainer Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman and owners Mel Hartman and John Fielding of Ontario, Herb Liverman of Florida and David McDuffee of New Hampshire.

The $170,000 yearling purchase from last Fall’s Harrisburg Sale now sits with almost $350,000 in seasonal earnings. Poof Shes Gone is eligible to both the Champlain and Peaceful Way Stakes which are coming up later this month at Mohawk.
