Nubble Light took advantage of a second-over trip, swept four-wide in the stretch and drew off to a one-length victory in the $7,000 opening leg of New Jersey Sire Stakes – Green Acres for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Saturday, August 30 at Freehold Raceway.

The gelded son of Rocknroll Hanover, driven by Steve Smith and trained by Deleston Cote, covered the third race mile in 1:56.3, putting away Earthshaker (sired by Rocknroll Hanover). It was two lengths back to third-place Sassy Hanover (by Cams Card Shark), who cut the fractions.

Nubble Light picked up his fourth win with one second and three thirds from 15 starts in 2014, pushing his earnings to $20,729 for the year and $37,429 lifetime. He is owned by Cote, Henry Faragalli III, Trevor Johnson and Jeffrey Ruben.
