Camluck Mare Tops The Boys

The only mare in the field, Camille showed the boys how it’s done when she moved smartly first over and captured Wednesday’s $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Although she established a Meadows track record of 1:49.4 for four-year-old mares in her last appearance, Camille had been on the bench since then. Nevertheless, she moved from fourth for Dave Palone as the 4-5 favourite and triumphed in 1:51, a neck better than Hickory Big Red. Pair A Dice rallied for show.

Ron Burke trains Camille, a daughter of Camluck-Art of Design who extended her career bankroll to $568,470, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, M1 Stable and Jack Piatt III.

Palone piloted four winners — three for Burke — on the 16-rae card while Greg Grismore enjoyed a driving triple.
