Rideau Carleton Raceway’s race office crew drew the post positions for the 45th edition of the Frank Ryan
Memorial Trot earlier this afternoon, and if the defending champ is looking to repeat he'll have to overcome post eight.
Armbro Chronicle who trotted to a 1:55.1 victory in last year’s Frank Ryan Memorial Trot, will try to take home the lion’s share of the $161,750 purse for driver Mike Saftic and trainer Kent Baker. The seven-year-old son of Self Possessed has stashed away more than $1.1 million to date for Baker and partners Cal Patterson, Jo Anne Smith and Randy Fielder.
Standing in his way could be the hometown favourite, Gutsy Volo, who has drawn post seven for trainer Matt Dupuis. Keith Oliver will handle the lines on the five-year-old son of Yankee Glide, who is a 23-time winner in his career.
Slave Dream and Merited Victory, who paid the $10,000 supplement fee to this year’s event, have drawn posts three and six, respectively.
The Frank Ryan Memorial Trot will be contested as Race 12 on Sunday, September 6. Post time for the first race is 6:30 p.m.
