Silver Majesty continued her reign over the three-year-old pacing filly division of the Trophée Des Éleveurs at Hippodrome 3R, completing the preliminary legs with a perfect record for trainer Jean-Francois Maguire.
Silver Majesty delivered as the 1-9 favourite in the lone $10,000 filly prelim in leg three contested on Sunday, Aug. 3 while Monsieur Panic pulled off a 15-1 upset in the $10,000 prelim for colts and geldings.
Silver Majesty won her third division in wire-to-wire fashion, leading through fractions of :27.4, :59.1 and 1:28.1 en route to a 1:57.2 triumph. Denis St. Pierre has driven the All Bets Off-Acaena De Chakrika filly in all three of her successful starts in the preliminary legs of the series. Coeuratout De Lac (Pierre-Luc Roy) settled for the runner-up honours for the third time, finishing 2-3/4 lengths behind off a pocket trip, while last year's divisional stakes champion Mirabel Enfete (Simon Delisle) followed in third. Silver Majesty is now seven-for-10 overall in her sophomore season for owners Silver Stables and Marie Michelle Gaboury of Venise-En-Quebec, Que.
Making just his second appearance in the series after breaking stride in the opening leg, Monsieur Panic and driver Pascal Berube circled a short field of five for the upset victory in 1:58 by 1-3/4 lengths, with heavy 1-9 favourite HP Bellissimo (Pierre-Luc Roy) recovering from a pair of early miscues to nab second place over Changement Detemps (Simon Delisle), who had led through panels of :28.3, 1:00.1 and 1:29. Monsieur Panic earned his second win in 10 starts this year. Daniel Martin trains and co-owns the Control The Moment-Three For The Lady gelding with Dominique Michel of St-Barnabe Nord, Que.
