Austin Sorrie piloted five winners on Saturday evening, Aug. 3 at Georgian Downs with three of those victors trained by Ronald MacDonald.
Sorrie's swiftest win of the MacDonald trio came with Jay Richard Nyce in the card opener. The Nuncio-Zette Starling colt led every step through quarters in :28.1, :57.1 and 1:26.4 before zooming home to win by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:57.2. Resolute Lady (Matt Bax) finished second and Northernchancellor (Scott Young) rounded out the top three.
Jay Richard Nyce is a sophomore colt owned by Hartel Maintenance Inc. and Lormer McClure. He has three wins in nine starts this year and four wins in his career of 21 starts. He paid $4.20 to win.
MacDonald and Sorrie completed their triple with Saturday ($25.70) by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:58.3 and Expidition Pass ($10.90) by a half length in 2:01.2.
Sorrie picked up two more wins with Crosscut ($2.30) by a head in 1:57.1 and Dapper Fella ($5.60) by 4-1/4 lengths in 1:59, both for trainer Jared Mann.
