Mark Bradley mapped out a ground-saving journey for Half Cut in Thursday’s $2,350 Preferred 2 for pacers at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the gelding responded with a 1:55.1 score in going away fashion.

The gelding got away third while Jackson K Down powered to the lead and whizzed through fractions of :27.2 and :57.1. Bradley had Half Cut moving first-over in the backstretch, and he was up to gain a short lead while racing parked past the three-quarter pole in 1:26.4. A :28.2 closing quarter earned the three-year-old son of Stonebridge Terror-Beckys Filly the win by 4-1/4 lengths over race favourite Nogreatmischief. Third prize went to Jackson K Down.

Kyle Gardiner, Joseph Gardiner, Michael Currie and Jerry MacKinnon share ownership on Half Cut, who owns a 5-0-1 record from just eight trips postward in 2018. The 13-time winner has banked over $63,000 to date.

Freddie stormed to an easy win in Thursday’s $1,950 Open Trot for the tandem of driver Marc Campbell and trainer Bo Ford. The six-year-old son of Majestic Son-Circe Hanover led the way through panels of :30.1, :59.1 and 1:29.1 before scooting home in :29.3 to win by 4-1/2 lengths over Isabella Hanover. Professor Gordon took home the show dough.

Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston, PE owns Freddie who improved this year’s record to 3-2-0 from six tries. The 40-time winner has earned more than $120,000 to date.

Ford also tacked on wins with Diduseethat (1:58.3) and Mikes Cowgirl (1:56.1) to give him the hat trick on the card.
