Seven Grand Grabs The Cash In New York Sire Stakes

Seven Grand went back-to-back in New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) competition as he won the single $155,694 division for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Vernon Downs on Friday, Aug. 29.

The colt reached the quarter on top in :29.1 for Sarah Svanstedt before allowing Titans Mischief (Matt Kakaley) to take over control and lead to the half in :58.4. Secured (Dan Daley) came first-up to challenge as they went down the backstretch and advanced to within a half-length of the leader at three-quarters in 1:28.3. Secured retreated as they turned into the lane, when Seven Grand popped out of the pocket and passed Titans Mischief to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:57.4. Titans Mischief finished second over Read The Room (Dylan Huckabone-Miller).

Seven Grand has won two of three career starts, all in the NYSS. The colt by Chapter Seven-My Abigail, trained by Ake Svanstedt, is owned by Ake Svanstedt Inc., Little E LLC, Soderberg Bloodstock LLC, and Van Camp Trotting Corp. He paid $6.40 to win.

There was also a pair of $27,778 Excelsior Series divisions for freshman colt trotters. Rubens ($3.30) was dominant in the first in a 1:59.3 maiden score for Dan Daley, who drives and trains the son of Chaper Seven-Got You Br No for James Crawford IV, Timothy Drag, Rich Preziotti, and Carl Austin Jr. Twin B Seven Sins ($2.10) took the second for his third straight Excelsior Series victory in 1:59.1 with Tyler Buter in the bike. Noel Daley trains the Chapter Seven-Affair Hall colt for Patricia Stable, Caviart Farms, Allister Stables LLC, and L.A. Express Stable LLC.
