Track Record In A Dead-Heat Victory

The top pacing class at Truro Raceway ended in a thrilling dead-heat and produced a new track record on Sunday afternoon (August 29).

Trained and driven by Darren Crowe, Ashestodiamonds established a new track record for aged pacing mares in the $2,000 Winners Over as she hit in the wire in 1:54.2 alongside gelding American Risk and Andrew Campbell in a dead-heat for the win.

Ashestodiamonds, a four-year-old daughter of Betterthancheddar out of Bolero Tam Tam, shaved two-fifths of a second off the track record for older mares held by Sodawana Bay (2020).Time To Dance's track record for male pacers stands at 1:51.3.

Ashestodiamonds bested her lifetime mark by two full seconds as she recorded her 10th victory. She is owned by David Livingstone of Halifax, N.S.

Sharing the spotlight, American Risk is trained by George Rennison for the local Risky Bizz Group. The five-year-old American Ideal-Kissing Bandit gelding is now an 11-time winner.

Ashestodiamonds established the lead over her six foes through a :27.2 opening quarter with American Risk tucking into third until the midway point. As they raced by the half in :56, American Risk moved first-up and went head-to-head with Ashestodiamonds at three-quarters in 1:25. Those two battled through the stretch and hit the wire together for the dead-heat in the afternoon's feature. Rusty Riley and Paul Langille finished 1-3/4 length behind in third off a pocket trip.

American Risk paid $2.20 to win as the 3-4 favourite while Ashestodiamonds returned $3.40 to win as the 7-2 third choice.
