B Yoyo Repeats In Tioga Open Trot

Published: August 29, 2015 09:33 pm EDT

Uncontested through a sensible early pace, odds-on favourite B Yoyo used a :27 third-quarter surge to evade his six trailing rivals in Saturday (August 29) evening's $14,000 Open Trot at Tioga Downs, ultimately edging clear for a decisive 1:53 triumph.

Vinny Ginsburg wasted no time with the five-year-old gelded son of Striking Sahbra, seizing command from Bourbon Bay (John Cummings Jr.) in the first hundred yards. The two continued unchallenged through early sectionals of :27.3 and :57.1, and B Yoyo turned up the tempo at first asking from Ginsburg, edging clear of Bourbon Bay by two lengths through a 1:24.1 three-quarter split while a first-over bid from Six Bax (Jim Taggart Jr.) failed to materialize. B Yoyo remained strong to the end, holding clear by two and a half lengths under intermittent whip taps while Bourbon Bay and Six Bax were both driven to give chase late. The 1:53 win was B Yoyo's third consecutive success and the 15th of his career.

Bob Bongiorno trains B Yoyo for Bill Lambos and Dionisios Liberatos.

Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Sunday (August 30) afternoon, with a 13-race program headlined by five preliminary divisions of the Kindergarten Classic for two-year-old trotters. Post time is slated for 1:30 p.m. Eastern.
