Win streaks are made to be broken, but Our Girl Annie has yet to step out of the spotlight after another victory of her undefeated career in taking her Lady Slipper Stake division Sunday afternoon (Aug. 28) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

Trainer Eddy Doucette had the daughter of Arthur Blue Chip razor sharp as she sat fifth at the start then was asked by driver Corey MacPherson to circle to the lead in the second lap to win her $17,100 Lady Slipper Gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies in 1:57.4. Speakingofshadow shook loose from the pack to finish second ahead of Itsuptoyou. Our Girl Annie improved her record to four wins from four starts with $17,110 in earnings for owners Blaine, Jennifer and Jessica Thibeau of Kensington.

Rock N Roll Cays made a three-wide move at the half-mile station as she went on to win the other $17,100 Gold division for rookie fillies in 1:58.1 for trainer Jeff Holmes, driver Ken Murphy and owner Hardcore Racing of Belfast. The Tobago Cays filly was the best over Woodmere Jade and Singing Ramona.

The $8,550 Grassroots filly splits were claimed by Howmac Jazzy Girl in 2:01.4, Gosistersoulsister in 2:00.4, Too Much For You in 2:00.3 and Scarlet Summer in 2:00.

Fishermans Son received the jackpot in an adventurous $27,200 Joe O’Brien Memorial Stake Gold division for two-year-old colts that saw two recalls before the start, an early break in stride by divisional heavyweight Tobins Profit and the five-race win streak of Malignity snapped. Danny Gillis Jr., was in the race bike of the winning son of Arthur Blue Chip as the colt sat fourth and came second over at the half to chase down the first-over Malignity in the final quarter. The Walter Walker trainee stopped the clock in 1:55.4 to win by a 1-1/4 lengths over Malignity while Baconabiscuit finished third. Walker owns the colt with the Estate of Angus MacInnis of Mabou, N.S.

The grassroots division for pacing colts carried a $13,600 purse with Starship Glyde delivering as the heavy favourite in a time of 1:59.3 in his split while The Midnight Train won the other division in 1:59.

Sailor Blue closed hard to win the $4,300 leg of the Island Ocean Trot Series, presented by JD Marine and Diving Inc., in 2:00.1 with Ken Murphy at the lines for trainer Jeff Holmes.

Live racing continues Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. (ADT) at Red Shores Summerside.
