Robert Cooper Stables and J&T Silva's Mel Mara was a 1:52.1 winner Monday in the featured $15,000 Open Pace at Harrington Raceway.

Trained by Dylan Davis and driven by Corey Callahan, Mel Mara won his first 2017 appearance on his home base via a menacing three-wide move into the final turn that saw him slingshot to the front for a powerful win over Major Uptrend and Sparky Mark. Captive Audience set fast fractions before tiring late. It was the fifth win of the year for Mel Mara, who may be Harrington's marquee race of the season on September 18, the $150,000 Bobby Quillen Memorial.

Three was the lucky number of the night as it was one of three straight wins on the program for Callahan. The program also started with three consecutive number three horses winning.

Live racing continues through Wednesday, before Thursdays are added for the balance of the schedule through October 19.
