Distaffers Outlawabovenbeyond and Sunshineatthebeach established new track records during an action-packed eight-race card on Saturday, Aug. 26 at The Track On 2.

A victory by Outlawabovenbeyond ($6.10) in the fourth race, a $4,900 conditioned pace, in 1:52.2 shattered the previous standard of 1:54.1 established for sophomore pacing fillies by My Little Chloe in July.

Outlawabovenbeyond and Phil Giesbrecht (pictured above) commenced pacing from the rail and was in fourth for the first quarter-mile as favourite Westcoast Captive (David Kelly) led the field through an opening split of :27.4. The filly made her move shortly thereafter and assumed command before the half-mile marker in :55.3. After passing the three-quarter pole in 1:24.1, Outlawabovenbeyond cruised home with a :28.1 final panel to best Amped Up Annie (Nathan Sobey) by four lengths. Waitinonawoman (Mike Hennessy) was third.

Unraced at two, Outlawabovenbeyond improved her record to 2-1-0 in four starts. The daughter of Captive Audience-Watchasgirlsgoby is trained by Rod Starkewski, who co-owns the filly with Claudette Byckal.

Heavy favourite Sunshineatthebeach ($2.20) used a :27.1 final quarter mile to dispense of her foes in the eighth race, a $5,800 conditioned pace to best the older pacing mares track record of 1:53.3 shared by Jessies Girl, set in August 2022, and Havinfuninthesun, on Aug. 13.

Sunshineatthebeach left from post four and was in sixth for driver John Glen as Hf Flower (Hennessy) led the field of seven through the first split in :27.2. Gin Is Better (Clint Warrington) strode to the front in a half-mile timed in :54.4 while Sunshineatthebeach remained in her position. Senga Nightmare (Ryan Grundy) then took her shot on top as the mares paced past the three-quarter pole in 1:24.3. Sunshineatthebeach began her advance, moving into fifth and then third for the stretch drive. She then employed her closing kick to fend off If Id Only Known (John Chappell) by three-quarters of a length. Senga Nightmare was third.

Trained by Donna Sarin and owned by 8113564 Canada Ltd., Sunshineatthebeach (Sunshine Beach-Yoselin Seelster) sports a resume of 20-23-21 from her 148 starts and has earned $267,051.
