Vivians Dream (Jordan Stratton) charged late to capture the $110,100 New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) race for two-year-old pacing fillies at Vernon Downs on Saturday (August 27).
Earthwindfire (Jack Pelling) went straight to the lead but Vivians Dream ($7.80) went by and led to the quarter in :26.4. Twin B Joe Fresh (Jason Bartlett) came first-up from third and took the lead as they headed down the backstretch. She was first to the half in :55.1. Earthwindfire made her move first-over going around the final turn. Twin B Joe Fresh led to three-quarters in 1:23.2.
As they made the turn for home Twin B Joe Fresh shook off Earthwindfire. As they reached the stretch Vivians Dream popped the pocket and went after the leader. Twin B Joe Fresh gave everything she had but Vivians Dream kept coming and went on by to stop the clock in a track record time of 1:50.4. She beat the old record for two-year-old pacing fillies of 1:51.3 formerly held by both See You At Peelers (2010), and Zero Tolerance (2018). Twin B Joe Fresh had to settle for second. Kissing Joe (Leon Bailey) came flying late to finish third.
Vivians Dream is a two-year-old filly by American Ideal-Sports Chic. She is owned by Forrest Bartlett and trained by Cory Mumford. That is her sixth win in seven lifetime starts.
Jordan Stratton drove three winners on the card. He got his other wins with Polyester ($2.60), and Southwind Sambucca ($2.10).
