The roar of a neighing horse is probably the last thing you’d expect to hear in the parking lot of a retirement community, but it didn’t apply to The Village of Riverside Glen this past Monday morning.
The retirement community in Guelph was paid a special visit by the Hands On Horses Program, which included the retired racehorse, ‘Harry.’
‘Harry,’ as always, loved the attention just as much as the residents loved the chance to meet the accomplished racehorse. ‘Harry,’ whose real name is Killean Sweep, was a 23-time winner during a career that saw him rack up purse earnings in excess of $210,000. He now enjoys retirement at the Shamrock Training Centre in Cambridge, Ontario.
Local radio station CFRU 93.3 interviewed residents and collected their ‘horse stories’ from years gone by. ‘Harry,’ who didn’t want to miss his chance to be on air, put in his two cents worth with a neigh here and there, as well. The broadcast is scheduled to air Monday, September 1, 2014.
