Brett Lester led all trainers on the Saturday, Aug. 24 card at Georgian Downs with three winners from his stable.
Lester started his Saturday night by sending out a pair of starters in the second race for $20,000 claiming pacers with Sportnsense ($5.70) scoring in 1:55.2 with Colin Kelly aboard. He then closed out the eight-race card by sweeping the late Daily Double with stable newcomer Siri Seelster ($3) winning a fillies and mares pace for $10,000 claimers and lowering her mark to 1:54.1 in rein to Kelly and No Partners ($6.80) taking the finale for $8,000 claiming pacers in 1:56.1 with Jason Ryan in the sulky.
With his three wins on the night, Lester shot up the Georgian trainer standings to third and now has a total of 10 wins at the 2024 meet to sit seven off leader Ron MacDonald.
Coming off a career-best season in 2023 in which he won 91 races, Lester has sent out 49 winners this year. Lifetime, the Elora, Ont. horseman has won 232 races and purse earnings of more than $1.8 million.
