Shooting to the front early, Euchred faced little challenge when taking the $1,150 featured pace at Inverness Raceway as the 2-5 favourite on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Driver Mark Pezzarello pushed the seven-year-old Shadow Play gelding to the front and led R Es Aiden by three lengths to a :28.2 opening quarter. He continued on the lead through a :57.2 half but lost the lead heading to three-quarters in 1:27.1 as R Es Aiden circled to the front. Euchred retook the lead rounding the final turn and widened to a three-and-three-quarter lengths victory in 1:56.2. R Es Aiden settled for second with Buttons giving chase in third.
Owned by Kayla Habicht Walker, Euchred won his fifth race from 16 starts this season and his 48th in 148 overall, earning $123,429. Walter Walker owns the $2.60 winner.
