Champion distaff pacer Lady Shadow headlined a seven-race qualifying session on Friday morning (August 25) at Mohawk Racetrack, turning in an illustrious 1:50 performance with 2017 World Driving Champion James MacDonald at the helm.
The six-year-old daughter of Shadow Play drafted behind pacesetter Artistic Madison (Jonathan Drury) through early split times of :27.2, :55, and 1:22.4 before pulling pocket at head-stretch and vaulting clear by 2-3/4 lengths. Reverend Hanover (Travis Henry) sustained a mild bid off the far turn to take second over Artistic Madison, who gave way after cornering for home.
Ron Adams trains Lady Shadow for David Kryway, Carl Atley, Ed Gold, and the BFJ Stable. Lady Shadow was the centre of controversy at The Meadowlands earlier in the summer when she was denied entry to the Lady Liberty on the Hambletonian undercard following a positive test for clenbuterol after the May 28 Betsy Ross at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
