The longest shot in the field, Embassy Seelster (Fern Paquet Jr.) won the featured $9,000 Open 2 Pace for fillies and mares at Tioga Downs on Friday night (August 25).

Goldstar Rockette (Jim Meittinis) surged to the front and controlled the pace with first half fractions of :26.4 and :56.4 before Sudden Change N (Jim Taggart Jr.) took over at the 1:24 third quarter mark. However, Embassy Seelster, who is owned Jerry Clark Racing LLC and trained by Paquet, somehow squeezed through an opening to get the win in 1:52.4. Sudden Change N was second-best and Goldstar Rocketter hung on for third.

Embassy Seelster ($35.20), a seven-year-old daughter of Modern Art, won for the sixth time this season and earned her 30th career victory.

The red-hot Jim Meittinis won three races on the night.

Live racing and "Corntastic" weekend continues on Saturday (August 26) with an 11-race card starting at 6:50 p.m.
