Driver Dale Spence pushed the gas pedal late and Legendary Ron responded to power by his opposition in the Wednesday evening (Aug. 24) feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Unhurried at the start, Legendary Ron sat last in the $3,000 featured pace as Woodmere Ideal Art laid down the fractions of :27.4, :58.3 and 1:28.3. Spence put Legendary Ron to work in the final quarter as he hustled up from last to stick his nose in front at the wire in 1:57.1. Nicholas Oakes trains and Douglas Matheson of Cornwall owns the son of A Rocknroll Dance who recorded his 30th win.
Driver Spence, trainer Oakes and owner Matheson doubled up on the night as veteran pacer Oakrock Eldorado won Race 9 in 1:59.2.
Ken Murphy had the hot hands on the evening as he won five dashes to continue his lead in the driving standings at Red Shores Summerside. Murphy won with Sweet Silvia (2:01.3) for Frank Hansen, Brookdale Sienna (1:59.2) for Keith Campbell, Silver Spirit (1:57.4) from the Devon Wallace barn, Dylan Sam (1:58.2) for Alan Gregory and Dollys Sky (1:58.2) for trainer Philip Desroche.
