Machinthesand, in line to Norris Rogers, used a first over journey to overpower fraction-setter Motorino and take the Wednesday (August 24) feature at Red Shores Summerside.

The seven-year-old son of Mach Three was positioned in the three-hole from post six before making his move just past the half and stopping the clock in 1:55.3. The win was Machinthesand’s sixth of the season for the Noonan Holdings Ltd., Russell and Karen Noonan. Hughie Murphy handles the training duties. Motorino laid down fractions of :28, :58 and 1:26.3 and held tough to be second, Painted Desert picked up the show prize.

Veteran free-legged pacer Blu Meadow Willie added his name to an elusive category when he crossed the finish line first in race six. The 12-year-old son of Drop Off picked up his 60th lifetime victory in his 282nd lifetime start for co-owners Bob and Brenda MacInnis. Walter Cheverie engineered the winning trip, getting up by a neck to win in 2:01.4.

Cheverie picked up the driving double scoring in race seven with the Alex Sobey trainee Sendmeasign. Corey MacPherson also scored a driving double, winning first with Minor Wisdom for Kristina McCourt and closing out the card with his own trainee Useful Hanover.

Racing returns to Red Shores Summerside on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start. The card will feature the two-year-old colts and fillies in the Joe O’Brien and Lady Slipper Stakes.
