Twilight Seelster failed to hit the ticket when she took on Grand River Raceway’s leading ladies on August 3, but in Monday’s follow-up performance she was solid gold for trainer Larry Ainsworth.
In rein to J.R. Plante, Twilight Seelster enjoyed a three-hole ride to the quarter pole before teeing off and rolling to the lead in the second quarter. She was parked and pressing at the mid-way point in :57.2, and after clearing to the lead she rolled the field to the three-quarter marker in 1:25.4 before using a :29.3 kicker to win by five lengths over Pictonian Sareta in 1:55.2. Eat Me Up took home the show dough in the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 event.
The 21-time winner is a five-year-old daughter of Modern Art-Titania Seelster. The career winner of $164,169, who is 4-for-15 this season, is owned by Brad Wilson of Lambton Shores, ON.
