Million Miler Wins Hanover Series Final

Million Miler fanned three-wide and swept home to win the $10,750 Hanover Claiming Series Final on

Wednesday at Hanover Raceway, for $4,000 claiming pacers.

St Lads Bounty (Dave Boughton) led the way past fractions of :28.1, :58.3 and 1:27.3 over the sloppy track with first leg winner Million Miler and driver Bob McClure rallying wide from the backfield at the three-quarters. The five-year-old son of Million Dollar Cam-Lady Micbri kicked home in :29.3 to steal the spotlight and stop the clock in 1:58.1. Double D Jeffrey (Dale Fritz) finished three-quarters of a length behind with Keystone Debonair (Bruce Richardson) rounding out the top three.

Million Miler, a winner of five races in 20 starts this year and $18,100 in purses, is owned and trained by John Kennedy of Hanover, Ont.

Driver Bruce Richardson swept both $4,000 first leg divisions of the Hanover Claiming Series for trotters earlier on the card with the John holding-trained Northern Jetstream in 2:04.1 for owner-breeders Wilma and James Mackenzie of Peterborough, Ont., and Road To Glory in a career-best equalling time of 2:02 for her new trainer James Stewart and owner Derick Anderson of Grand Valley, Ont.
