The streak is now eight straight wins for The Deputy Is Home, who showed on Thursday night that he's certainly not a horse that needs to take his racetrack with him.
Making his first start for new connections at Rideau Carleton Raceway, The Deputy Is Home was a wire-to-wire winner in the night's feature race - a conditioned pace for $10,700. Driver Stephane Gendron carved out splits of :27.4, :56.3, and 1:24.1 before cruising home to capture the 1:53 win for trainer Brenda Spence and owner Percy Elkins of Campbellville, Ont.
Since winning at Flamboro Downs in June 24, The Deputy Is Home (Shotgun Scott - Roomie Hanover) has rattled off eight straight wins in the claiming ranks while racing at Flamboro, Mohawk and now Rideau. With 15 wins on the season, The Deputy Is Home boasts the second most wins for a standardbred in North America this year. Only CMR Maybe Loaded (17) has more wins, giving 'The Deputy' a share of second with pacing gelding Albion.
