Rb and rookie pari-mutuel driver Ty Goodell captured the $11,111 featured conditioned pace on the special Thursday, Aug. 21 program at Northville Downs.
The Kim Pluta-owned and -trained Rb got away fourth in the field of six pacers. Up front, the speedy Four Star Flash (David Lake) left the car hard to clear to the lead from his outside post and led through fractions of 29, 1:00, and 1:29.4. Rb, who was first-up from the half, overtook the leader past three-quarters and sped away through the stretch, fending off late charges from Sweet Oliver (Ed Hennessey) and Catch Me Conrad (Cameron Kina) to win in 2:00.2 by 1-1/2 lengths. Sweet Oliver was second over Catch Me Conrad. The win price was $9.60.
Rb is now three-for-seven this year and has hit the board in six straight starts. The six-year-old son of Megatron-Getoutthediamonds has won 27 of 82 career starts and banked $257,005.
The win was Goodell’s second pari-mutuel victory in his career. Since the opening of the meet, Goodell has five pari-mutuel drives, resulting in two wins and two seconds. He is 12-for-51 overall, including starts at fairs.
