A Clean Deal Stays Razor Sharp At Mohawk

A Clean Deal

As the Grand Circuit ramps up 2025 stakes action at Woodbine Mohawk Park, undefeated two-year-old pacing filly A Clean Deal won't be a part of those lucrative races.

That's not a matter of fitness, though. It's a matter of eligibility.

Trainer Kyle Fellows confirmed to Trot Insider that the only stakes on the calendar for A Clean Deal are the Ontario Sires Stakes. So while counterparts Daya, Naughty Delight and Jen Tilly head into divisions of the Eternal Camnation on Saturday at Mohawk, A Clean Deal stayed sharp in advance of the next Gold leg in one week's time during qualifying action on Friday morning at Mohawk.

Driver Doug McNair patiently pointed the daughter of Cattlewash - Ideal Talker to the position of command in the morning's second qualifier, and the closest the competition would get was that time behind behind the gate. After setting fractions of :30, 1:00 and 1:28.4 with multiple lengths on her rivals, A Clean Deal opened up in the stretch with a :26.4 final quarter to win by 11 lengths with the timer tripped at 1:55.3. Lunar Sport (Billy Davis, Jr.) was next best.

Fellows trains A Clean Deal, a winner all four of her starts with earnings of $218,000 and a mark of 1:50, for owners Yolanda Fellows of Rockwood,Ont., Blair Corbeil Leduc, Alta., Windermere Stable LLC of New York,N.Y. and Jim Ross of Wingham, Ont. Only 2023 O'Brien Award winner Pass Line — with her 1:49.3 mile on Sept. 2, 2023 — has a faster divisional mark in the history of the provincial program.
