Saturday's card of harness racing at Kawartha Downs featured Prospect Series divisions for rookie trotting colts and sophomore pacing fillies, with all winners coming away with new lifetime marks.

There was just a single $7,100 Prospect Series division for two-year-old trotting colts, and favoured Showme Some Muscle did just that with a dominant gate-to-wire winning effort. Guy Gagnon guided the 1-9 shot to victory in 2:01, more than five lengths better than Kiss My Mass (Reg Gassien) and Willywin (Bill Megens).

Showme Some Muscle (Muscle Mass - Give Me A Hand) is trained by Dominic Gladu for Gestion J Y Blais Inc. of Montreal, Que. The win was the first in four starts for the $22,000 Harrisburg yearling.

On the engine was also the successful strategy for sophomore pacing filly High Roller Duke, the fastest of two $7,000 Prospect Series winners. Nick Boyd was the pilot for High Roller Duke, who fought off Watch My Speed (Gagnon) to earn a new 1:53 speed badge in her division.

Lacey McCabe trains High Roller Duke (Bettors Delight - Mystique Beachbum), a Glenview Livestock Ltd. homebred who sports a solid 5-1-1 summary from 10 seasonal starts.

The second division went to Hallsglensmavis, stickhandled through traffic late by trainer/driver Murray Brethour to win by a half-length in a lifetime best 1:54. Favoured Southwind Bayou (Doug Brown) and Patricia Mae (Boyd) closed from off cover to finish less than a length back of the winner and finish second and third, respectively.

Krista Thomas of Havelock, Ont. owns Hallsglensmavis (Thinking Out Loud - Arukiddinme) now a three-time winner in nine starts this season after just a single score as a two-year-old.

The two-year-old trotting colts head to Leamington Raceway for the fifth leg on Sunday, Sept. 13, while the fifth leg for three-year-old pacing fillies was recently rescheduled to Thursday, Sept. 3 at Flamboro Downs.
